IT'S ABOUT TIME...

Wow, I can't believe that it has been so long since we last blogged, sorry for all those who waited for such a long time...it will get better from here on out.

So, the latest wedding photos are in and boy, was that a tornado to get in and out in 30 minutes. Blair came to me back in August and asked Macey's to provide flowers for her wedding, so we went to work. I was so excited for this wedding that I spent PROBABLY too much time thinking about it (I guess I love my job). Well, the week came to begin assembling things and I got a phone call from my wholesale floral supplier and she said that the orchids (80 stems), couldn't get here on time because of the terrorist attacks in India...what does India have to do with Macey's? Well, it turns out that most of the orchids we see in floral arrangements, come from India and they had closed the airports. By some miracle, we found enough orchids to satisfy the need and went forward. Everything went perfectly, I only wish I could have got a better picture of the bridal bouquet, we just didn't have enough time to look at everything that we had just accomplished before we had to leave. Oh man, it was beautiful though. Here are some pictures...

C A K E F L O W E R S !

At Macey's, we also do wedding cakes, not in the floral department but you know what I mean. On Saturday, we got the opportunity to put flowers on the cake and it was way fun. Putting flowers on cakes can sometimes be very intimidating especially when the cake lady is watching you poke holes in her cake. A cake decorator once said to me, "A good florist should be able to cover any blemishes a cake may have." Talk about serious pressure. ha.ha. Anyway, here is a picture. I love the colors!

P I N N A C L E !

Today, I had the wonderful opportunity to deliver a bridal shower flower order to Sherwood Hills Resort. I had been working with the bride and her mother now for about two months getting everything just right. Friday, I worked on them for probably about eight hours (them being four centerpieces and one large arrangements). We then ran into the problem, how do you get them there. Sarah's parents own a white enclosed trailer and that was the ticket...we loaded them up Saturday morning and then I road in the trailer with them. That was an experience to say the least...every bump you think you feel in the car, you definitely feel in the trailer. Sarah gave me a blow-by-blow, so I would know what to expect out of the road, which did help for the big bumps. We finally made it up to Sherwood Hills (in one piece) and started to set up. The whole family loved it so much that they have decided to talk it over and possibly take us to Hawaii with them to do the flowers there. Holy Cow! I think if that happened, I would cry. Anyway, here are some pictures of our adventure.

W E D D I N G S H O W C A S E !

Finally, I have time to sit and upload the pictures of the wedding showcase that Macey's played host to at the beginning of August. Either I kept forgetting the disk at work, or school started...but whatever the excuses, here they are. We had the opportunity of working with Wendell from Pace Photography who took all the pictures, also, Kelly from Diamond Designs, he provided all the decor and went above and beyond the call of duty on that. All in all, it turned out to be amazing.

Catch Up!

Okay, so after the month of August it's almost tempting to take a break from the wedding flower business but then we remember how awesome it is to complete a wedding. So no stopping here. We were booked straight this entire month which is awesome to know because, yes, we are a grocery store floral department but we are pretty talented. We are actually busy next month as well...but always willing to accept more weddings. So here is one picture, from one wedding. Also, to find more of our work, go to momentsbykellee. We did the wedding for Michelle Korth and it turned out amazing. These pictures are of her bridals only though...more pictures to come shortly.

Wedding Showcase Success!

Wow! After working between 13 and 15 hours last Friday (depending upon person), we got the showcase together and it looked amazing! Being that we are a grocery store offering such services as wedding flowers, cakes and catering, we wanted the community to know this as well. After 8 hours of talking to guests, we completed around 8 consultations and hopefully many more will take advantage of our great talent. I will post pictures as soon as we get them back from Pace Photography. *He is a great photographer who we have help us with our pictures.
Anyway...soon to come...pictures!

Sarah...aka.Senior

What can I say about Sarah Sr.? We have a great time. She is very talented floral designer and seriously has a lot of great ideas. Sarah started working in the floral industry when she designed her own wedding flowers and then started doing some friends. (I think this is probably how a bunch of us start out.) She is a seasoned florist and has worked now in the floral industry for about 12 years...yes, 12 years. The passion she has for flowers is presented in her beautiful and creative arrangements.

We love her and she is a great mentor and friend. In the picture she is the one on the right...we went to Disneyland early this year for my birthday.

We also have a ton of fun working together. Valentine's Day is probably one of a florists worst nightmares, but we have a lot of fun. Some may say, it is a grocery store floral, but I say, we are trained florists with a better deal, same quality. And because we love our job, it is reflected into our arrangements!
